Privacy Policy

MusicPulse provides a browser extension and web service for identifying music in YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram videos and searching by lyrics, hooks, or keywords.
1. Data We Handle
Scan data: When you start a scan, we process the active supported page URL, page title, video identifier, a temporary audio capture, and, where applicable, publicly available YouTube comments. The audio is used only to identify songs, remixes, or edits.
Lyrics search: Lyrics, hooks, and keywords that you submit are sent to the providers needed to search for a likely match.
License data: When you activate a license, the license key is sent to Polar through our validation endpoint. A signed entitlement token and extension preferences are stored locally in Chrome storage.
Diagnostics: With analytics enabled, limited events such as scan start, scan completion, platform, and error information are sent to PostHog and Sentry. We do not intentionally send raw audio or full browsing history to analytics.
Technical data: Our infrastructure and providers may receive technical request data, such as an IP address, to deliver, secure, rate-limit, and monitor the Service. MusicPulse does not request GPS or precise device location.
2. How We Use Data
- To provide song identification, remix/edit discovery, and lyrics search.
- To validate licenses, enforce fair-use limits, prevent abuse, and secure the Service.
- To diagnose failures and understand aggregate product usage.
- To send waitlist notifications or product updates only when explicitly subscribed.
3. Service Providers
Depending on the feature used, requests may be processed by Netlify, ACRCloud, Groq, Modal, YouTube APIs, Genius, Deezer, Spotify, PostHog, or Sentry. These providers are used only when needed to provide the user-facing features and are governed by their own privacy and security terms.
4. Retention
MusicPulse does not intentionally persist raw scan audio, page content, or comments in its application storage after a request is completed. Temporary processing may occur in the services listed above under their respective policies. Rate-limit counters, license entitlements, diagnostics, and waitlist records may be retained as needed to operate and secure the Service.
5. Sharing and Advertising
We do not sell user data or use it for personalized or interest-based advertising. Data is transferred only when necessary to provide or improve the identification, lyrics search, licensing, security, or reliability features.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port personal data, withdraw consent, and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Contact music.pulse.dev@proton.me for privacy requests.
7. Chrome Web Store Limited Use
MusicPulse's use and transfer of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use user data for creditworthiness or lending and do not allow human access except where necessary for user-requested support or security.
